Spartacus
Spartacus (Greek: Σπάρτακος, Spártakos; Latin: Spartacus) (c. 109–71 BC) was a Thracian gladiator, who along with the Gauls Crixus and Oenomaus, a Roman Castus, and a Celt Gannicus, was one of the slave leaders in the Third Servile War, a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic. Little is known about Spartacus beyond the events of the war, and surviving historical accounts are sometimes contradictory and may not always be reliable. All sources agree that he was a former gladiator and an accomplished military leader.
The gladiator rebellion, interpreted by some as an example of oppressed people fighting for their freedom against a slave-owning oligarchy, has been an inspiration to many political thinkers, and has been featured in literature, television, and film. Although not contradicted by classical historians, no historical account mentions that the goal of the rebel slaves was to end slavery in the Republic, nor do any of the actions of rebel leaders, who themselves committed numerous atrocities, seem specifically aimed at ending slavery.

Tyrion Lannister
"A very short man can cast a very long shadow".
Tyrion Lannister, mockingly nicknamed the Imp and Halfman, is a malformed dwarf and is the third child of Tywin Lannister. He serves as the third-person narrator for forty-seven chapters throughout A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Dance with Dragons, and he is confirmed to narrate at least one chapter in the upcoming novel The Winds of Winter. He is intelligent, witty and shares his father's skill for political maneuvering. Because he is an outcast, he also has great sympathy for outcasts and the mistreated. However, he also shares many of his family's flaws, such as arrogance, cruelty and a manipulative nature. His mother died giving birth to him, and Tywin has never forgiven him. Tywin also hates him for his dwarfism, sharp tongue, and frequent visits to brothels. While Tyrion is hated by Tywin and his sister Cersei, his brother Jaime treats him with kindness and respect. In his youth, Tyrion married a young woman named Tysha after rescuing her from a band of rapists. When Tywin discovered this, he commanded Jaime to tell Tyrion that Tysha was a prostitute and that Jaime arranged everything. Tywin had his garrison rape Tysha and forced Tyrion to do the same. The event traumatizes Tyrion, but he is grateful to Jaime for allowing him to taste love, even if briefly. In A Game of Thrones, he is arrested by Catelyn Stark, who accuses him of trying to murder her son. He is brought to the Eyrie, where he demands a trial by combat and is championed by Bronn, a mercenary he befriended. Tyrion is acquitted, and he and Bronn make their way to the Riverlands. They are stopped by the hostile hill tribes, but Tyrion wins their support by promising to help seize the Vale of Arryn. With his new allies, he joins his father's army. Shortly after, Tywin sends him to serve as King Joffrey Baratheon's Hand of the King in his stead. Against the orders of his father, he takes his concubine Shae with him to King's Landing and takes great pains to hide her. He arrives in the capital in A Clash of Kings and immediately enters a bitter power struggle with Cersei and Joffrey. With his small army of hill tribe warriors and mercenaries and the unsteady support of the city watch, he becomes one of the most powerful men in the city. When Stannis Baratheon attacks the city with his fleet, Tyrion has already prepared a counter-attack with a massive chain boom and ships filled with the Greek fire-like wildfire. During the battle, he is betrayed and nearly killed by a knight of the Kingsguard. Although he loses his nose, he is saved by his squire Podrick Payne. When Tyrion recovers in A Storm of Swords, he finds that Cersei and Tywin have removed him from power and have sent away his men. Tyrion is made Master of Coin, the treasurer, and is left to untangle Petyr Baelish's labyrinth of investments. He is also forced to marry Sansa Stark to prevent her from marrying Willas Tyrell and to claim Winterfell. He does not force her to consummate the marriage, for which she is grateful. Tyrion is later falsely accused of poisoning Joffrey. He realizes that he cannot win in a normal trial and demands a trial by combat. He fails to convince Bronn to face Gregor Clegane, but he finds an unlikely champion in Oberyn Martell. Oberyn is killed, and Tyrion is condemned to execution. However, he is released from his cell by Jaime and Varys. Jaime rescues him out of guilt and confesses that Tysha was not a prostitute. In response, Tyrion lies and tells Jaime that he killed Joffrey, who is Jaime's son, and reveals that Cersei has been unfaithful to Jaime. He swears revenge on his father and siblings. Shortly after, he makes his way to Tywin's chambers and finds that Shae is there. He strangles her, and then he kills Tywin with a crossbow bolt. He arrives in Pentos in A Dance with Dragons. Upon the request of Illyrio Mopatis, he travels with Aegon VI Targaryen and Jon Connington to Meereen and hopes to help Daenerys Targaryen conquer Westeros. While visiting a brothel, he is recognized and captured by Jorah Mormont. Jorah intends to bring Tyrion to Daenerys, hoping that he will earn her forgiveness. On the journey, Tyrion meets and befriends a dwarf woman named Penny. The three are captured by slavers and sold, and they eventually find themselves in a camp outside Meereen. When a plague strikes the camp, they escape in the chaos. Tyrion joins the mercenary company the Second Sons. In exchange for membership, Tyrion promises the company the wealth of Casterly Rock, his birthright after Jaime renounced it. Although the company is contracted to fight Daenerys, he realizes they are on the losing side and hopes to convince the company to change sides. Tyrion Lannister is portrayed by Peter Dinklage in the HBO adaptation of the novels

Heisenberg
Dr. Walter Hartwell "Walt" White, Ph.D., (also known by his clandestine alias, Heisenberg) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the American television drama series Breaking Bad on AMC. He is portrayed by Bryan Cranston and was created by series creator Vince Gilligan. Once a promising chemist who was one of the founding members of the fictional, now multi-billion dollar company "Gray Matter Technologies", Walter left the company for personal reasons and became an unhappy and disillusioned high school chemistry teacher. After being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, he resorts to manufacturing methamphetamine to ensure his family's financial security when he dies. As the series progresses, Walter gradually becomes darker and takes on a more villainous role.
Although AMC officials hesitated to cast Cranston due to his previous comedic role on Malcolm in the Middle, Gilligan cast him based on the actor's past performance in an episode of The X-Files. Cranston has contributed to much of his character, including Walter's back story, physical appearance and personality traits. Gilligan had described his goal with Walter White as turning Mr. Chips into Scarface, and has deliberately made the character less and less sympathetic.
Both the Walter White character and Bryan Cranston's performance have received critical acclaim. Cranston won three consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the second actor ever to do so and the first since Bill Cosby for I Spy in the 1960s.
Homer Simpson
Homer Jay Simpson is a fictional main character that appears in the animated television series The Simpsons as the patriarch of the eponymous family. He is voiced by Dan Castellaneta and first appeared on television, along with the rest of his family, in The Tracey Ullman Show short "Good Night" on April 19, 1987. Homer was created and designed by cartoonist Matt Groening while he was waiting in the lobby of James L. Brooks' office. Groening had been called to pitch a series of shorts based on his comic strip Life in Hell but instead decided to create a new set of characters. He named the character after his father, Homer Groening. After appearing for three seasons on The Tracey Ullman Show, the Simpson family got their own series on Fox that debuted December 17, 1989.
Homer and his wife Marge have three children: Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. As the family's provider, he works at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Homer embodies several American working class stereotypes: he is crude, overweight, incompetent, clumsy, lazy, a heavy drinker, and ignorant; however, he is essentially a decent man and fiercely devoted to his family. Despite the suburban blue-collar routine of his life, he has had a number of remarkable experiences.
In the shorts and earlier episodes, Castellaneta voiced Homer with a loose impression of Walter Matthau; however, during the second and third seasons of the half-hour show, Homer's voice evolved to become more robust, to allow the expression of a fuller range of emotions. He has appeared in other media relating to The Simpsons – including video games, The Simpsons Movie, The Simpsons Ride, commercials and comic books – and inspired an entire line of merchandise. His catchphrase, the annoyed grunt "D'oh!", has been included in The New Oxford Dictionary of English since 1998 and the Oxford English Dictionary since 2001.
Homer is one of the most influential fictional characters on television, having been described by the British newspaper The Sunday Times as "the greatest comic creation of modern time". He was named the greatest fictional character "of the last 20 years" in 2010 by Entertainment Weekly, was ranked the second greatest cartoon character by TV Guide, behind Bugs Bunny, and was voted the greatest television character of all time by Channel 4 viewers. For voicing Homer, Castellaneta has won four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance and a special-achievement Annie Award. In 2000, Homer and his family were awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The joker
The Joker is a fictional character, a comic book supervillain who appears in publications by DC Comics. The character was created by Jerry Robinson, Bill Finger and Bob Kane, and first appeared in Batman #1 (Spring 1940).
As the archenemy of the superhero Batman, the Joker has subsequently appeared in television programs, films, games, and on a variety of merchandise. The credit for creating the character is disputed,
with both Kane and Robinson claiming responsibility for the Joker's design, but acknowledging Finger's writing contribution.
Throughout his comic book appearances, the Joker is portrayed as a highly intelligent, master criminal whose characterization has varied. Originally introduced as a psychopath with a warped, sadistic sense of humor,
the character became a goofy prankster in the late 1950s in response to the regulation of the Comics Code Authority, before returning to his darker roots in the early 1970s. As Batman's nemesis,
Joker has been a part of many of the defining stories of that character, including the paralysis of his Batman's ally Batgirl, and the murder of Jason Todd, Batman's ward and the second Robin.
Throughout the Joker's long history, there have been several different origin tales ranging from him formerly being an already psychopathic criminal, to a family man who had one bad day.
However, the stories commonly depict his appearance being the result of him falling into a tank of chemical waste, which bleaches his skin white and turns his hair green and his lips bright red.
He has been repeatedly analyzed by critics as the perfect adversary for Batman; their long, dynamic relationship often parallels the concept of yin and yang.
As one of the most iconic and recognized villains in popular media, the Joker was ranked #1 on Wizard's list of the 100 Greatest Villains of All Time.
He was also named #2 on IGN's list of the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time List, was ranked #8 on the Greatest Comic Book Characters in History list by Empire (being the highest ranking villain on the list)
and was listed as the fifth Greatest Comic Book Character Ever in Wizard magazine's 200 Greatest Comic Book Characters of all Time list, also the highest villain on the list.
On their list of the 100 Greatest Fictional Characters, Fandomania.com ranked the Joker at number 30.
The Joker has appeared as an adversary for Batman across a wide spectrum of media in both live-action and animated incarnations, including the 1960s Batman television series where he is portrayed by Cesar Romero,
and in film by Jack Nicholson in Batman (1989), and Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight (2008), for which Ledger posthumously earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Mark Hamill, Brent Spiner and Michael Emerson,
among many others, have voiced the character in animation.

SuperMan
Superman is a fictional character, a comic book superhero who appears in comic books published by DC Comics. He is widely considered to be an American cultural icon.
Created by American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian-born American artist Joe Shuster in 1932 while both were living in Cleveland, Ohio, and sold to Detective Comics, Inc. (later DC Comics) in 1938,
the character first appeared in Action Comics #1 (June 1938) and subsequently appeared in various radio serials, television programs, films, newspaper strips, and video games.
With the success of his adventures, Superman helped to create the superhero genre and establish its primacy within the American comic book. The character's appearance is distinctive and iconic: a blue, red and yellow costume,
complete with cape, with a stylized "S" shield on his chest. This shield is typically used across media to symbolize the character.
The origin story of Superman relates that he was born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, before being rocketed to Earth as an infant by his scientist father Jor-El, moments before Krypton's destruction.
Discovered and adopted by a Kansas farmer and his wife, the child is raised as Clark Kent and imbued with a strong moral compass. Very early he started to display superhuman abilities,
which upon reaching maturity he resolved to use for the benefit of humanity.
Superman has fascinated scholars, with cultural theorists, commentators, and critics alike exploring the character's impact and role in the United States and the rest of the world.
Umberto Eco discussed the mythic qualities of the character in the early 1960s, and Larry Niven has pondered the implications of a sexual relationship involving the character. The character's ownership has
often been the subject of dispute, with Siegel and Shuster twice suing for the return of legal ownership. Superman placed first on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes in May 2011.

Spider Man
Spider-Man is a fictional character, a comic book superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics.
Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962). Lee and Ditko conceived the character as an orphan being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, and as a teenager, having to deal with the normal struggles of adolescence in addition to those of a costumed crimefighter.
Spider-Man's creators gave him super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using wrist-mounted devices of his own invention which he called "web-shooters",
and react to danger quickly with his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his foes.
When Spider-Man first appeared in the early 1960s, teenagers in superhero comic books were usually relegated to the role of sidekick to the protagonist.
The Spider-Man series broke ground by featuring Peter Parker, a teenage high school student and person behind Spider-Man's secret identity to whose "self-obsessions with rejection, inadequacy, and loneliness"
young readers could relate. Unlike previous teen heroes such as Bucky and Robin, Spider-Man did not benefit from being the protégé of any adult superhero mentors like Captain America and Batman,
and thus had to learn for himself that "with great power there must also come great responsibility"—a line included in a text box in the final panel of the first Spider-Man story, but later retroactively attributed to his guardian,
the late Uncle Ben.
Marvel has featured Spider-Man in several comic book series, the first and longest-lasting of which is titled The Amazing Spider-Man. Over the years, the Peter Parker character has developed from shy,
nerdy high school student to troubled but outgoing college student, to married high school teacher to, in the late 2000s, a single freelance photographer, his most typical adult role.
As of 2011, he is additionally a member of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, Marvel's flagship superhero teams. In the comics, Spider-Man is often referred to as "Spidey", "web-slinger", "wall-crawler", or "web-head".
Spider-Man is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes. As Marvel's flagship character and company mascot, he has appeared in many forms of media, including several animated and live-action television shows,
syndicated newspaper comic strips, and a series of films starring Tobey Maguire as the "friendly neighborhood" hero in the first three movies. Andrew Garfield has taken over the role of Spider-Man in a reboot of the films.
Reeve Carney stars as Spider-Man in the 2010 Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Spider-Man placed 3rd on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time in 2011.

Batman
Batman is a fictional character, a comic book superhero created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger.
The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939), and since then has appeared primarily in publications by DC Comics. Originally referred to as "The Bat-Man"
and still referred to at times as "The Batman," he is additionally known as "The Caped Crusader,"The Dark Knight," and "The World's Greatest Detective," among other titles.
In the original version of the story and the vast majority of retellings, Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, an American millionaire (later billionaire) playboy,
industrialist, and philanthropist. Having witnessed the murder of his parents as a child, he swore revenge on criminals, an oath tempered with the greater ideal of justice.
Wayne trains himself both physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime.Batman operates in the fictional American Gotham City, assisted by various supporting
characters including his crime-fighting partner, Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, the police commissioner Jim Gordon, and occasionally the heroine Batgirl.
He fights an assortment of villains such as the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, Ra's al Ghul, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, among others. Unlike most superheroes,
he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, martial arts skills, an indomitable will, fear, and intimidation in his continuous war on crime.
Batman became a very popular character soon after his introduction and gained his own comic book title, Batman, in 1940. As the decades wore on, differing interpretations of the character emerged.
The late 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his dark roots,
with varying results. The comic books of this dark stage culminated in the acclaimed 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns, by Frank Miller, as well as Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Arkham Asylum:
A Serious House on Serious Earth, among others. The overall success of Warner Bros.' live-action Batman feature films have also helped maintain public interest in the character.
A cultural icon, Batman has been licensed and adapted into a variety of media, from radio to television and film, and appears on a variety of merchandise sold all over the world such as toys and video games.
The character has also intrigued psychiatrists with many trying to understand the character's psyche and his true ego in society.
In May 2011, Batman placed second on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time, after Superman. Empire magazine also listed him second in their 50 Greatest Comic Book Characters of All Time.
